On boss fights where multi-shot will hit multiple targets it will always be used. You will use either Multi-Shot or Aimed Shot depending on the situation. Multi-Shot or Aimed Shot - Multi-shot has a very short cast time so you will need to momentarily stand still to cast this ability. Otherwise Explosive Trap is the better choice. On encounters with lots of movement or a bad boss hitbox where Explosive Trap will not be fully effective then Black Arrow is the right choice. Black Arrow or Trap Launcher: Explosive Trap - Following Serpent Sting you have two choices. Also depending on your positioning, you can either cast Serpent Sting before Explosive Trap if you are far away, or use Explosive Trap first if you are very close to the boss on pull. Assuming you can pre-trap on a boss use the rotation stated below. As Survival you will not have Chimera Shot to refresh the duration so you will need to manually keep an eye on it. Serpent Sting - Serpent Sting should be cast after Explosive Shot.Explosive Shot - Explosive Shot should always be your highest priority outside of execute range.Kill Shot - Kill Shot should always be your highest priority whenever the enemy is within execute range (20% health or lower).Below is what your priority list should look like. You want to make sure that Explosive Shot is on cooldown at all times, and due to the fact that nearly half of your overall damage will come from Explosive Shot it is easy to see why this ability will be your highest priority outside of execute phase when the target is below 20% health. Your single target rotation is rather straightforward and simple. Add Kill Command before the main ability of each macro. Kill Command is off the GCD and can be added into your macros for every ability. You will pre-trap with Explosive Trap and then cast Black Arrow as listed in the rotation priority. When pre-trapping, you can not stack/use two Explosive Trap.Aimed Shot Should be used instead of Multi-Shot on single target encounters due to Sniper Training.Trap Launcher: Explosive Trap should always be used over Black Arrow whenever possible.Wait until it falls off the target before reapplying Serpent Sting, however Kill Shot, Explosive Shot, and Explosive Trap should always be used before reapplying Serpent Sting if they are available. Serpent Sting Should never be refreshed early.Arcane Shot will never be used as Survival as it shares a cooldown with Explosive Shot.As Survival trap weaving will be a high risk high reward style of gameplay and therefore it is encouraged you try to learn the playstyle and hitboxes to effectively increase your overall dps. There is enough downtime in your rotation to place Explosive Trap but the effectiveness of this varies greatly depending on boss hitboxes and how quickly you can move in and out and whether or not the boss fight is stationary or a lot of movement is involved. With that being said there are still ways to make gameplay more engaging with trap weaving, and melee weaving IF the melee and ranged swing timers get separated when the game launches live. While this may seem much more boring, it will be easier to control and play. Instead of a rhythm based 1:1, 1 2, 5:4:1:1, etc you will now be focused on a more priority based rotation. The only thing you must pay attention to is that you can not cast Auto Shot while moving and you must stop long enough for the cast to go through. This is no longer the case in WoTLK Classic as your Auto Shot will now go off even if you are casting Steady Shot. In TBCC the rotation was more of a rhythm game and keeping up with shifting rotations based on haste and your effective weapon speed ensuring you did not clip Auto Shot with Steady Shot or Multi-Shot. Things change quite drastically for Survival Hunters when it comes to the actual dps rotations. In WoTLK Classic your primary focus is still do deal damage and provide utility through pulling, providing threat with Misdirection, crowd control with either Frost Trap or Freezing Trap.
